The Creative Process

Talking about something as subtle and individual as the creative process, would require several books, which is not raised and for which I am surely not the most qualified. So I will only try to give some elements about the methods and tools that I use for the creation of my pieces and their fundamentals.
Removing the technical limitations to which I referred before, jewelry is a wide field to let the imagination run, however if it is not trained, it will most likely not run too much.
So these are my gym equipment:
The story: Since prehistoric times, humans have used elements that gave beauty to the body or that highlighted certain characteristics of the person who wore them, the diversity of shapes, materials and sizes has also been very wide, this gives me an interesting starting point to begin imagine.
The forms of nature: the infinite complexity, variety and beauty of natural elements; plants, stones, landscapes, animals, textures, etc. ; It is also usually an element that I use when thinking of a new piece.
Design elements and mathematics: Another of the things that I do hand when I decide to start creating a new model is elements such as the plot, the dark light, the rhythm, the structural balance of the image and other elements typical of the analysis of the image and the design. I also try to experiment with certain mathematical relationships like the golden ratio, the Fibonacci series, fractal relationships, etc.
Know what has been done: I think that to do something new it is quite important to know what has been done so far, which is why I usually visit exhibitions, go to museums, look at books and catalogs and visit workshops of jewelers friends, in addition to
pay special attention to the fingers, necks and ears of all the people I see who have had the good idea to decorate them with a piece of jewelry.
Inscrutable paths: of course there are also inspiring elements that are more subtle or more difficult to explain, such as music, literature, cinema or a life experience, which in many cases function as a trigger for a new piece.
However, despite the fact that I think that all these elements are useful to me, there is something that is probably the engine of the creative process and it is that need, which occurs at certain moments, to take a notebook and start drawing a piece, making a photograph or write a text. Without those moments, the rest are just scattered knowledge that has no need by itself to become a craft object. And this is ultimately what makes defining the creative process so difficult.
